Acai Hair Boosting Smoothie Recipe

Sharing is caring!

It’s Sunday you guys and it’s time for me to share another of my smoothie creations with you! This weeks smoothie is all for making our locks stronger and shinier and help that mane grow faster, thicker and longer! I developed this one as I messed around with my hair from the get go and now just like everything else I am taking the natural path by healing inside first to get the best results on the outside. When i was a teen I had so much hair! Typically all i was interested in was styling, dying and piling chemically loaded products onto it, before i knew it there wasn’t much hair left on my head.

Thankfully i got that all out of my system and learnt my lesson very quickly. Cleaning up my diet really helped my hair grow back nicely thank god! But up until recently I had a sudden loss of hair due to stress. My hair became a lot thinner which was really getting me down. So along with kissing goodbye to the stress (as stress is a massive contributor to hair loss), i added my Acai Hair Boosting Smoothie to my diet several times a week. This gave my body all the vitamins and nutrients it needed to whip my hair back in shape!

A few pics of my hair history …don’t judge me we all make mistakes when we’re young! Lol

There are so many benefits for your hair when it comes to these berries! The high iron and zinc content strengthens your hair roots and improves scalp health. The magnesium regulates the calcium in your body which prevents hair falling out and lastly they contain all the vitamins A, C, E and B as well as the essential fatty acids Omega 3,6 and 9 which are all needed for overall hair health!

Almond milk

Provides 25% of the daily recommended allowance of magnesium which is an essential mineral for growing healthy strong strands. Almonds also contain a B vitamin called biotin which promotes hair growth and overall scalp health.

Is a source of complete protein which means it contains all the essential amino acids! Also an excellent source of the essential fatty acid GLA which improves the texture of hair and helps prevent dry, brittle hair!

Is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C which is what your body needs to help detoxify your liver and blood which will help the process for the nutrients to get to your scalp and hair more efficiently.

Chia seeds

Along with spinach, Chia seeds are a perfect sources of protein. Seeing as hair is mostly made from protein these ones are key!

Contains essential fatty acids like Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 which promote hair health.

Adds the good fats your body needs. Omega 3 and 6 are essential fatty acids that nourish your scalp preventing your hair becoming dry and brittle. Quality fats keep your scalp oil levels balanced encouraging long, thick growth.

Pumpkin seeds

Are high in Zinc which is essential for hair cell growth. A lack of zinc can cause hair thinning, dull and early greying! Vegetarians must ensure to get zinc into their diets.

Acai Hair Boosting Smoothie

  • 1x Acai ( fresh Acai can be quite hard to find. I usually buy the frozen sachets from either whole foods or plant organic)
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 tbs Chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Spirulina
  • 1 tbs Tahini
  • Handful fresh Spinach
  • 2 tbs Pumpkin seeds
  • 3 dates
  • 1 cup Almond milk
  • 1/4 cup Spring water
  • Handful Ice

  1. Put the Almonds and the Spring water into the blender jug and blend. This is how I make my almond milk, it’s super fast and if you have a good blender then you won’t get too many bits.
  2. Once you’ve blended your almond milk, add the remaining ingredients to the blender and blend. Remember to remove the pips from the dates.
  3. Pour into a glass and Enjoy. You can sprinkle some chia seeds on top.

This smoothie isn’t the sweetest, which can can be a bit difficult if you are just getting use to a plant-based diet. If so add another date or two to sweeten it up.

I hope you guys love this smoothie as much as I do! This one I must say will take some getting use to! It reminds me of clay, very thick, but this is what we want our hair to be!! For me it’s a staple in my diet as i mentioned earlier, i have it a few times a week! Hair has got to be on fleek, you feel me! If you guys have any ideas for next weeks smoothie don’t forget to comment below.

Until next sunday…
